A Poem About Work

The clattering of keyboards
rattles round inside my brain;
The humming of the hard drive
is driving me insane;
The patter of the printer
puts me in physical pain.

The endless ‘ding’ of emails
as they enter an inbox;
The cry of mouses clicking
and the ticking of the clocks;
The chaos only quietens
when the filing cabinet locks.
